Alberto Roveri

Alberto Roveri was born in Milan on 14th October 1947. His career as photographer began in the 1970s with the weekly ABC, and then continued as a collaborator for the photographic press agency, DFP, directed by Aldo Bonasia. These were the so-called “years of lead”, and Roveri daily documented the social tensions, the clashes in the streets and also the profound changes throughout the country at the time, including the battles for divorce and abortion.
In 1976, he moved to Palermo to work with the daily L’Ora, acquiring considerable experience of photographic reporting in Italy’s deep south. He also worked for Espresso, Panorama, L'Europeo, Famiglia Cristiana and Prima Comunicazione until 1983, when he was hired with a journalist’s contract in exclusive with the weekly Panorama, for which he worked until 2009.
